Greetings wayward traveller,
Kevin Mogk, Science Bloke here. Before you look around my blog I have a confession to make. Are you ready? Okay, here goes: I don’t come from a science background! Shocked?
I studied in cultural anthropology and strut and fret an hour or two across the stage. It wasn’t until I started working at The Manitoba Museum‘s Science Gallery and Planetarium that my childhood passion of all things space was reignited. Since then, I strive to share that passion and am now taking the Science Communication graduate dipoma at Laurentian University to help me do what I do even better.
I also have to confess I didn’t chose to be the “Science Bloke”. People just started using it so they could remember how to pronounce my odd last name. I like it because it’s sciencey, but also because it’s sort of an homage to a childhood influence and hero of mine, Bill Nye the Science Guy. He inspired a generation to see science as cool and he continues to be a positive role model for science. I can only hope to do the same.
This blog is just my way of trying to stay on top of the ever changing world of science and keep my writing skills sharp. I hope you enjoy it and that you find something here that speaks to you.
